Client stories

Four employers. Four seasons that had to work.

A country club, a tobacco farm, and two vineyards, and what changed once the season stopped being a gamble. In their own words.

Farmington Country Club

How Farmington Country Club partnered with másLabor to secure the seasonal workforce they needed and manage H-2B cap risks.

Golf & Private Clubs

The operation

One of the top fifty country clubs in the nation, Farmington was founded in 1975. With a pool, golf course, tennis courts, and a clubhouse and grounds to match, a facility like this takes a small army to maintain.

The approach

H-2B is capped at 66,000 visas a year, and no one can guarantee foreign workers against a federal cap. What an experienced team can do is streamline the process and make sure your application is at the front of the line.

What changed

01

Finding the right labor the first time makes all the difference. Some H-2B workers have been coming back to Farmington for over eighteen years.

02

By taking the time to understand the whole operation, Farmington's visa expert included a broad selection of tasks in the job description, so H-2B workers can work where they are needed most.

03

When workers arrive late, or not at all, the whole operation suffers. másLabor managed the application process to avoid delays and advocated for cap relief at the federal level.

“másLabor has been excellent to work with the whole time. They know the business. The i’s are dotted, the t’s are crossed, and they’re proactive.”

BG Wetherington Farms

How BG Wetherington Farms partnered with másLabor to secure the workforce they needed and stay current with program requirements.

Agriculture

The operation

Founded in 1973 as a family business, BG Wetherington Farms is now the largest tobacco grower in Georgia and Florida, and one of the biggest in the country, supplying both Philip Morris and RJ Reynolds. As tobacco farms consolidated or switched crops, Wetherington kept growing.

The approach

They had previously worked with an agent who did not adhere to DOL standards, so compliance was the central issue from the first conversation. As with every client, their másLabor visa expert took the time to learn the business before touching a filing.

What changed

01

Tailoring the job descriptions and adding their in-town packing facility to the order got Wetherington the H-2A workers it needed to fulfill critical contracts.

02

As the farm invested in machine processing, their visa expert kept the job requirements aligned with the business, helping to double efficiency with half the number of workers needed.

03

With Fred as the tobacco expert and másLabor as the labor expert, Wetherington met its contractual obligations and compliance requirements, avoiding pitfalls with regulatory bodies.

“In that first year, Christine [másLabor visa expert] helped us feel really prepared. She took the time to really cater the job description to our custom operation and even took our calls after hours when we had questions.”

Barboursville Vineyards

How Barboursville Vineyards partnered with másLabor to secure the skilled workforce they needed.

Agriculture

The operation

Barboursville Vineyards was established in 1976 on the grounds of Virginia Governor James Barbour’s estate. More than half of their wine is sold on premises, including tastings in the winery’s Library 1821, which houses bottles in place of books.

The approach

After using farm labor contractors to meet seasonal demand, Vineyard Manager Fernando Franco needed a long-term, more reliable source of trusted labor. Barboursville did not just need consistent workers, they needed workers who understood pruning vines for optimal growth. A new worker can take an entire season to become a full contributor.

What changed

01

Once you find the right workers you do not want to settle. Barboursville's visa expert prioritizes returning H-2A workers with institutional knowledge and vineyard experience, so each year runs seamlessly.

02

Twenty years ago másLabor was one of the few H-2A visa consultants. There are more options today, and Fernando has no desire to switch.

“I am simply the orchestrator, but I need the musicians to play the instrument.”

Grace Estates Winery

How Grace Estates Winery partnered with másLabor to secure the reliable workforce they needed.

Agriculture

The operation

Since 2005, Grace Estates Winery has tended a vineyard in central Virginia. They have built their own winery and tasting room but still sell roughly 80% of the harvest to other wineries. On some days twenty tons of grapes are picked.

The approach

Vineyard Manager Robbie Corpora needs only six seasonal workers, which makes every one of them essential. His crew rarely uses pesticides and goes the extra mile to keep the operation environmentally friendly, so the right skills and work ethic matter more here than headcount.

What changed

01

Once a small operation finds the right workers, it does not want to say goodbye. Two of their workers were part of the original crew that planted Grace Estates' vines in 1997.

02

Grace Estates sees its in-house harvesting team as a competitive advantage. Skilled, reliable workers help them meet demand where others fall short.

“H-2A workers are essential to our business. They’re the backbone of the operation.”
